As a parent, we are responsible for making decisions for our children. Even before they are born, we search for the “right” pediatrician to care for our children. When it comes to choosing a daycare or a preschool setting, as a parent we hope to choose “right”. Researchers say there are four elements to evaluate before choosing the right preschool. They are; the teachers, the families, the classrooms, and the curriculum.

At the Jardin d’Enfance Preschool, we believe in “growing together”. All the teachers at the preschool have extensive experience in early childhood care and they are all moms. They are able to set routines and rules within the classroom yet still have that maternal instinct. Each class consists of two teachers, one French and one English, offering a bilingual setting. They all come from a multicultural background in which children that do not speak French or English seem to find someone that understands them.

As a team of educators, we understand the importance of the child-parent-educator relationship. After every day, the teachers present to the parents what was accomplished and to answer any questions. There is also a display of the children’s art, game, or cooking activity that was done during the day. At the Jardin d’Enfance we believe in working with the parents to help grow the child’s social, cognitive, affective, and physical development.

The parents at the preschool are there to see their children grow in an educational, fun, and safe environment. They are welcomed to participate in Special Days such as Career Day, Grandparent’s Day, “Not so scary” Halloween party, etc…, the organized outings (two a school year),and other activities (picture day, teddy bear clinique).

Whenever there is a new child registering, the comments most parents make after visiting the preschool, is the size of the rooms. They are SPACIOUS! There is a lot of space for each learning center that the children can actually enjoy their surroundings. However, the preschool does not stop at the doors. By being part of the Centre du Sablon, the children have access to a pool, a mini gym, a big gym, a dance studio, and two beautiful outdoor play areas, including a garden. With all of these areas to visit, the teachers have an amazing curriculum. They always astound parents with their originality in art projects, creating their own songs, and activities. Our older children love doing Yoga on Fridays, with the teachers, and they get to bring home “homework”. Your children will have fun learning new things daily, while making some of their first true friendships.

When looking at all the elements, the best analogy to describe the Jardin d’Enfance Preschool of the Centre du Sablon is that the child is the bloom of a flower, the parents are the stem, the teachers are the roots, the classroom and the curriculum are the leaves, that all work together to help your child grow.
