Cross-country skiers will find their heart's content on 25 kilometres of well-maintained trails in the Duvernay district, headquarters of the Coureurs de boisés sporting club, a non-profit initiative that has been welcoming Laval’s families for 35 years! Forget all about the cold and improve your stance in farmlands and woodlands that also serve as shelter for many birds and animals; a perfect spot for fresh winter air. Tackle Fish Atop the Ice!
One of the finest parks of the province, the Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles is host to a multitude of winter activities for the whole family. Hiking trails totaling nearly 13 km stretch across the frozen river and various islands (walking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing). Enjoy the silence of the forest while tackling fish along the colourful huts that line the shore. Many organized activities and packages allow you to learn and practice this great seasonal sport. Winter sports aficionados will enjoy the park sledding and skating facilities.

Take Advantage of the Snow!
One of the largest natural areas of the island of Laval, the Bois de l'Équerre, is great for family fun and games! Walk or hike along 8 kilometres of trails, and discover nature’s secrets on the interpretive signs along the way. Ice-skating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and backcountry adventures are only the tip of the iceberg of what the Bois de l’Équerre has to offer, including many themed activities.

Even in winter, the farm animals and the birds of the tropical greenhouse of family-oriented Centre de la nature await visitors. Five kilometres of looped trails will delight cross-country skiers and hikers of all levels. Rush down the five snowy slopes or improve your skating skills on the frozen lake. One of the best spots for a winter outing, the Parc des Prairies, offers many activities such as sledding, skating, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. If you are into fitness training, you’ll love the four trekfit modules. Ecology fans will appreciate the 32 interpretation panels located throughout the park. Equipment rental is available at the main shelter.
