Our daughter had been struggling in school since Kindergarten. It started with her shyness and lack of self-confidence. However, her difficulties also extended into the realms of organization, comprehension and retention. Despite the hard work, the difficulties only became more apparent as she moved from one grade to the next.

Homework was a struggle. Half an hour of work would take her over two hours! Simple reading assignments would take so much energy out of her. She had difficulty in pronunciation, would often skip words and worse of all... she would have no recollection of what she had just read.

We, her parents, did the best we could by acting as her personal teachers at home and providing her with tutors. Even with this extra help, she continued to comprehend and retain poorly. By the time grade four ended, we realized that we needed a new type of help.

After consulting various sources, we met a family that went through the same obstacles with their child. They reassured and convinced us that there was HOPE for our child. We decided to enroll her in the Cellfield program over the summer and to our surprise, we noticed a huge change in our daughter after only a few days! We noticed improvements in her academic abilities as well as her behaviour in social settings. She answered questions quicker and experienced greater awareness. She simply seemed more alert.

By the time grade five began, there was new found confidence! Our daughter began to enjoy reading and, more importantly, understood what she was reading. This resulted in a transformation in her approach to homework. In fact, her general attitude towards school changed. She now enjoys interacting with her peers and speaking in front of the class. To use her exact words; "Before it seemed like there was a cloud in front of me, now I understand when the teacher speaks." As we progressed through the school year, it became evident that our daughter's writing skills also improved, specifically in her details, her grammar and her spelling. Her handwriting is also much neater than before. Finally, we have also seen progress with regards to her organizational skills.

My daughter has been working hard as always. The difference is that the effort is now reflected in the quality of her work and in her marks. It’s a thrill for me to say that she finally combines the confidence, and the tools that are needed in order to learn efficiently. Consequently, she now has a greater appreciation for the learning process - and as a parent in today’s world, you cannot put a price on that.
