For more than 30 years, Éco-Nature, a non-profit organization, has worked towards its mission of conserving, protecting and promoting the Rivière des Mille Îles.

Also known as a museum institution and social economy organization, Éco-Nature manages Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles. The park offers an exceptional ecotourist experience with its natural landscapes that get about 150 000 visitors annually. All funds from activities are used towards the organization’s mission.

Access to the River
Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles is one of the largest natural parks in an urban setting. It’s a great place to practice water sports while maintaining a low carbon footprint, such as canoeing, kayaking, Rabaska canoeing or paddle boarding. The hills and islands are equipped with hiking trails, docks, walking trails, shaded shelter, picnic tables, garbage cans and bathrooms. Visitors can also see the sights by boat aboard the Héron Bleu, which can accommodate up to 48 passengers.

A must-see attraction in Laval, the park offers a vast environmental education program. Excursions are hosted by knowledgeable guides who touch upon a variety of themes such as biodiversity, different ecosystems, the history of the Rivière des Mille Îles and an interpretation of the islands. The site is also popular in the winter with its multi-use trails, its ice rink, slides and ice-fishing village.

Newly Renovated Service Building
Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles will welcome its guests in a brand-new Exploration Center as of summer 2018. Dedicated to helping visitors discover the river, the building is LEED-Gold certified. It boasts a large well-lit entrance hall with a service desk and a bistro café, a permanent exhibition, an ecology laboratory open to the public, and, of course, its famous boat rental center. What’s more, there are several multi-use rooms available to rent for events of all types.

This large-scale project represents an investment of almost 15 million dollars, and will contribute to helping Laval shine as a city, as well as allowing the park to improve its many visitors’ overall experience.
