Snowstorms, freezing rain, cold weather – Québec winters can be a wild ride! But getting around doesn’t have to be. Just plan ahead.

The bus is always around, every day, good weather or bad, to get you to your destination safely. Follow these practical steps and everything will roll smoothly.

  1. Plan your commute
Departure time? Which bus? The website STLaval.ca is your go-to for this first step. Think about commuting smart by setting up a user profile where you’ll be able to save your regular bus numbers and sign up for alerts.  This will entitle you to email or text notifications about detours or delays on your route. And don’t fret over the website’s “awesome” look ;-). There’s a new redesigned version coming soon!
  2. Download the STL Synchro app
This is another useful tool  for finding  essential information  like bus stops and times. You can track a bus on the map to give yourself enough time to walk to your stop. Change of plans? No problem, the info you need is just a few taps away! You can also call the Customer Contact Centre at 450 688-6520.
  3. No network? Just text!
You don’t need a data plan to track your bus. Simply text your bus stop number to 511785 to get the next bus arrival times in real time.
  4. Be ready!
High-tech tools are great, but getting to your bus stop 5 minutes earlier will ensure you won’t miss your bus. Before the bus pulls up, have your OPUS pass or fare handy, and signal to the driver you wish to board. A little courtesy goes a long way toward making commuting pleasant, so consider moving to the back of the bus, removing your backpack, and giving up your seat for someone who may need it more.
  5. Free stuff? Game on!
The STL is the official carrier of Laval Rocket fans. On game days, simply show your match ticket to the bus driver to ride any STL bus for free. The STL also runs special free shuttles from the city hall parking lot to Place Bell. Go Rocket!

Family outings without being out of pocketThe 360 shuttle, which covers 35 bus stops in downtown Laval, is free all the time. Think about it as a great solution for staying on-the-go with the whole family!
