September means back to school, but also back to culture. To mark the occasion, Ville de Laval is offering a wide range of activities.

Libraries bubbling with activities
Local libraries are a free destination of choice for families. There are children's areas designed for exploring, book browsing or playing a variety of board games. They also offer hundreds of activities. Here's a closer look at some of the upcoming ones:

Recognizing fruits and vegetables through the senses (ages 5-12)

In this workshop, children will learn to recognize various fruits and vegetables by sight, taste, smell or touch... and to name and recognize them once they've been transformed on the plate.

Cooking workshop: Halloween delights (ages 3-6)

In this inclusive workshop, children with and without special challenges will discover the enjoyment of cooking and eating well. A delicious way to celebrate Halloween!

Virus & Versa: from the Web to the stage (age 9 and over)

Théâtre Harpagon takes us on a humorous journey of discovery of the new digital continent, in a performance in the clowning tradition.

Performing arts shows

For its 38th season, the Maison des arts will be presenting some thirty shows in a variety of disciplines, including theatre, dance, puppetry, circus arts, musical theatre and clowning. Among the fifteen or so shows geared toward children and families are Alexis (Ample Man Danse), Concerto de bruits qui courent (Théâtre à Tempo), and Et on campera sur la Lune by Laval-based company Les Marcels. The touching puppet creation Coucou will close the season, as part of the Petits bonheurs festival.

Exhibitions at Salle Alfred-Pellan

The season kicks off with L'éternité, si possible, an artistic co-production with the Maison Abandonnée [Villa Cameline] from Nice, France. This will be followed by exhibitions by David Lafrance, Ianick Raymond and Joëlle Morosoli. Works by artists Eugenia Reznik, Ilana Pichon, Cecilia Torres and Laval's own Francis Macchiagodena will be on display in the Foyer of the Théâtre des Muses. All exhibitions are free of charge and open to all ages.

Art mediation program

Families are accompanied in their discovery of the shows and exhibitions, notably through meet the artists events, creative workshops, interactive activities and a reading corner for children.
